Arenita was stabbed to death in her own apartment . Shortly beforehand her housemate had seen three men arrive at the apartment asking for her services.
Murder number eleven on the list of hate crimes against [LGBT+ people] was committed at the home of the victim, identified as [deadname] Suero (Arenita), 22, a native of San Juan de la Maguana, presumably at the hands of of three clients, whose identities are not known. She worked on the corners of avenidas Ortega and Gasset.
A roommate from the house located in the Imbert neighborhood of Villa Mella indicated that he left Arenita with three men who came to the residence and requested their sexual services. He has not been identified but has been arrested for investigation purposes.
The transsexual [woman] said that, upon returning, she found the bleeding corpse, apparently stabbed.
The Transsa Dominicana group, indicated that the murdered [trans woman] was known by the nickname Arenita (in the media of this sexual minority, the real names of sex workers are not normally used) and adds to the list of hate murders in the country.
”It is alarming for us to see how every day the transsexual community loses some of its members in a bloody way. We hope that the authorities take action on the matter and that this crime does not go unpunished as has happened in previous cases," said the Transsa Dominicana statement.
So far this year there have been two sex workers who have lost their lives violently. The previous case was that of [deadname] de Jesús Crisóstomo (Monchina) who was murdered on March 30 and whose alleged murderer is in prison in the Najayo prison.
