Astrid's body was found half buried and in a state of decomposition in a garden at the home of Raúl Vega Carvajal, 33, located at 258 Paseo de la Dirección (Tetuán). She had been beaten and stabbed.

Carvajal confessed to killing her, claiming that he acted in self defence.

According to the first investigations, Vega Carvajal and López Ceice did not have any relationship but had seen together sporadically, and in the last of their meetings there was a discussion that ended with the stabbing death of the trans woman. The death of Lopez Ceice raises to 36 the homicides in the region so far this year.

The prosecutor asks for a sentence of 15 years and five months murder. Thd defendent hit her and stabbed her twelve times, dug the pit and quicklime over her corpse.
