E. J. Vigil Hernández

E. was shot dead on a football field in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood at around 7:30pm on 23rd February by MS-13 gang member Herbert Alberto Trejo Vásquez, 27.

Allegedly she was murdered because she was transgender.

Herbert Alberto Trejo Vásquez, 27 years old, member of the MS-13, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, for having shot dead the young [woman], [deadname] Vigil Hernández, aged 23, said the prosecutor of the case of the Life Unit of the San Miguel office.

The aggravated homicide was recorded on February 23, 2012, at approximately 7:30 in the evening, on the football field, located on Las Flores Street and 33 Avenida Sur, in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood.

Vigil Hernández was a US citizen because [she] was born in the State of New York, in the United States, and was attacked directly by Trejo Vásquez, who shot [her] four times in the head. The action involved five other terrorists, who gave security to the direct perpetrator of the crime, four of them minors.

Although the motive for the murder could not be established, one of the lines of investigation was that the deceased was transgender.

Her murder was not recorded on the official TDoR 2012 list released by Transgender Europe (TGEU).
