Pamela was found dead on the side of the road with tire marks on her shirt and signs of a severe head injury.
Brian Salto, a former police officer, later confessed to the crime. He said that he picked her up in his truck, under her offer of [sex work], to trick her and steal her wallet. He later ran over her as he drove away with her purse and cell phone in his truck. He then took money from her purse and dumped it on the side of the road.
A businessman was arrested yesterday in Santiago del Estero, accused of having killed a transvestite after hitting her and running her over with his truck near a hotel in the town of La Banda, police sources reported.
This is Braian Salto (30), who also had a double-cab truck seized, which was in a workshop to be painted another color and which, it is suspected, he used to run over the transvestite Pamela Moreno after an argument and a fistfight outside a motel.
The arrest of Salto, in a procedure led by the prosecutor Norma Moran, arose after an intelligence work carried out by officers of the 28th Police Station of Suncho Corral, who managed to detect in the area the [trans woman]'s cell phone, which was in the possession of a client of the merchant.
Pamela Moreno, who lived with her mother and sister in the Sarmiento neighborhood of the provincial capital, was beaten to death and run over by a pickup truck in the early hours of December 3, near a motel in La Banda.
In the autopsy report, the forensic experts diagnosed that the [trans woman] was subjected to a beating and then run over twice by a vehicle, leaving marks from the wheels on her chest and abdomen.
