Joyce Akira

Joyce was shot 4 times in the head in in the Mangabeira neighborhood in the early hours of Saturday 8th February. Her attackers were on a motorcycle and yelled transphobic slurs.

According to police, after returning from the Virgens de Mangabeira block the victim was walking with two other people along José Francisco Alves Street when she was surprised by two men who were on a black motorcycle.

Joyce was hit with four gunshots in the head and died on the spot. The Military Police was deployed and began investigations and searches, but so far no one has been arrested.
