Andrea was stabbed multiple times during a robbery at her salon. In December 2022, Édison Andrés Chávez was sentenced to 25 years in prison for her murder.
After more than five years of waiting, a Republic judge sentenced Édison Andrés Chávez Quintero to 25 years in prison for the murder of a transgender woman identified as Andrea Suárez. The homicide occurred on the first day of June 2017, in Cali, Valle del Cauca. The murderer acknowledged his guilt in the crimes of aggravated homicide, use of minors for the commission of crimes, and qualified and aggravated robbery. It was the Attorney General's Office that managed to prove the citizen's guilt.
That day, highlighted the sectional director of Cali, Sandra Eugenia González Mina, the murderer arrived with a minor at a hairdresser located in the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán neighborhood, where the victim was. There, Chávez stabbed Andrea nearly 100 times. After committing the crime, the perpetrator fled the beauty salon, taking with him hair clippers, a television, and a cell phone. The murderer was arrested by the National Police on May 5, 2018, in Bogotá.
