Retired military policeman, Antônio Rego Sobrinho, was sentenced to 16 years and 9 months in prison in a closed regime for the murder of 16-year-old transsexual teenager Anna Sophia. The trial took place this Monday (13/12), at the 2nd Court of Jury of João Pessoa.
According to the investigations and the complaint offered by the Public Ministry of Paraíba (criminal action 0008070-30.2017.8.15.2002), on the night of July 8, 2017, the defendant fired, without any prior discussion, several gunshots of fire against the victim, who was playing dominoes with friends in Praça Bela Vista, in the BairroEmployees II neighborhood. Although the teenager was rescued to a hospital in the Capital, she could not survive her injuries.
