Xiomy was stabbed in the chest during a fight with another trans woman who was also a sex worker.
Like far too many trans people her family did not accept her.
Relatives of the victim went to identify the body of Xiomy whom they only recognize as [deadname], stating that the loss of life sooner or later was a likely result of the fateful lifestyle that [she] had chosen.
"My cousin had at hand all the tools to be someone better, but [she] chose that path and distanced [herself] from the whole family," testified Hugo Artunduaga, a relative of the deceased, who also said that he had been informed of the incident early in the day Sunday.
