Candace was found shot to death at the end of a driveway.
Malaysa Monroe could not have known that Saturday would be the last time she would speak with her best friend.
“She gave me a call and me and her talked,” Monroe said of her friend, adding that the two had planned to get drinks at the Crazy Bull bar downtown.
“She wanted me to come link up with her, but I didn’t ever come out. I wish I would have.”
Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, someone called 911 to report a person was down, possibly dead, at the end of a driveway.
The body of Candace Towns, a 30-year-old transgender woman, was found at the top of a hill on Rosecrest Avenue, which is lined with blighted and burnt houses near a large tan-colored water tower between Bright Street and Edgewood Avenue.
In July 2020 Horace Jamal Marsh, 26, was charged with her murder.
A Macon man has been charged with the shooting death of Transgender woman Candice Towns. According to the Bibb County Sherif office press release, 26-year-old Horace Jamal Marsh was charged with the 2017 murder of 30-year-old Candace Towns.
