Keisha was found dead with a gunshot wound to the abdomen in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
James Butler, 27, was charged with complicity to aggravated murder.
She [Keisha] was described as someone who loved her family, loved wearing glamorous clothes and enjoyed decorating her home, her aunt and best friend of four decades previously said.
Wells was at Cocktails bar the night she was killed. She was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound to the stomach about 7 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot of an apartment building on Detroit Avenue near West 87th Street.
Eleven bullet casings were found at the scene, according to police reports. Officers also collected a leopard print shoe, a sweatshirt and a wig at the scene.
She had no identification with her at the time, which caused investigators issues in identifying her, police said.
After Wells was killed, Butler and the person who killed Wells, who has not yet been identified, took her body from a car and dumped it in the parking lot, according to court records.
According to the Human Rights Campaign Keisha was the second transgender woman to be killed in Cleveland in 2018 (the first was Phylicia Mitchell on 24th February) and the 13th known transgender person to be killed in the USA.
