Marqueza was killed by an armed man who broke into the house and shot her while she was sleeping.
At about 1:30 am on Tuesday (09), a [trans woman] was shot dead inside her own home in Campina Grande. [deadname] de Araújo, was 51 years old and was homosexual and well known in the Malvinas neighborhood as “Marqueza”.
According to the Civil Police, her property was invaded by an armed man wearing a white helmet. The criminal shot the victim while she was sleeping.
Investigators of the Homicide Police stated that at the time of the crime the victim was in the company of three friends. They were not wounded and will assist in investigating the crime since they witnessed the murder.
The crime happened on Rua Nereu Gusmão de Bastos, near a supermarket.
