Jahy and a friend were attacked by clients during an attempted robbery on the morning of Thursday 30th May. Jahy was shot during the attack, but her friend survived.

Jahy's friend said they were asked by two men who were in a silver-colored Fox Volkswagen vehicle for a show. Upon arriving in the community of Santa Clara, the suspects produced a gun and assaulted the victims. Jahy was shot during the assault.

The robbers abandoned the two women at the scene. Jahy's friend was able to call the emergency services who assisted Jahy but she died from her wounds.

The eyebrow designer Laiz Maurício Andrade said Jahy lived in Vitória and had been in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim for about 15 days with the intention of spending the season in the municipality. "The other [trans woman] is in good health, but she's in a panic. The LGBTQ+ community is in mourning."
