Aline was stabbed in the neck by a stranger at a bus stop. She was homeless and an activist for the Landless Rural Workers Movement of the state of Pernambuco.
The Landless Rural Workers Movement of the state of Pernambuco deplores the murder of militant Aline da Silva, a landless [i.e. homeless] [trans woman] who lived in the Malhada camp in the municipality of Arcoverde (PE). Aline was part of the Youth Collective and was a young woman active in the activities of the Movement. One of the last activities she participated in was the Resistance Caravan for the Semi-arid Lula Livre.
She was murdered at dawn on Aug. 19 with a stab wound to her neck as she was leaving a party when a man who did not know her saw her at the bus stop and decided to hurt her. As fascism has been growing as a political and ideological bloc, led by leader Jair Bolsonaro, who normalises the deaths of women and LGBT, hatred, violence and injustice have advanced. Because of this, violence against women and LGBT [people] increases daily.
