Vidalia was shot by assailants who entered her bar on the night of Friday 11th October. She had previously received extortion threats.

Vidalia Molina Delgado was a trans woman from El Salvador, but had been residing in Mazatenango for several years as a result of forced displacement due to violence in her home country. On the night of Friday 11, strangers entered her business “Bar Mery” located on 2 Avenida in zone 1 of Mazatenango (160 kilometers from Guatemala City) and shot her in the face and chest, according to the police report.

A friend of Vidalia said she had suffered extortion threats and that there was already a complaint in the Public Ministry for this. Vidalia's remains were transferred to their country of origin to be buried.
