Nicol was hit over the head during an attack in the centre of San Cristóbal de las Casas on Sunday 25th January. She fell into a coma and died in hospital a week later.
Her assailant is still at large.
On the night of Saturday, January 25, Nicol, a trans woman based in San Cristóbal de las Casas, was hit in the head in the first square of the colonial city, as a result she fell into severe head injury that caused her to enter into a coma, situation in which he persisted until last February 2, the day she died. 17 days passed without the authorities investigating the attack or detaining the person responsible.

Ruby AC Collective, Center for Human Rights of Minorities, CEDHUMI, Equal Movement, Pride Zacatecas AC, Chihuahua Feminist Training School, Queer Cultural Circle, Dance Group and Campobello IASP Theater of Chihuahua, Sinaloa Diversity Committee, and collective of LGBT Sinaloenses Activists, demanded an investigation with a human rights and gender identity perspective for transphobic violence against Nicol.
"This event is added to the one that occurred on August 11, 2019, the day of Aylin's transfeminicide, a case that continues in impunity after 5 months and without the necessary attention.
"The increase in violence against transgender people and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and other generic sex dissidents is a reality that we denounce and hold the municipality responsible for not positioning themselves in the face of these events or activating measures necessary for their care and prevention", the organizations stated.
