Neném was shot 12 times at her home at around midday on Tuesday 11th February. Her killer reportedly fled in a vehicle but was subsequently killed in a shootout with police.
A 38-year-old [trans woman] was executed with at least 12 shots, the day before yesterday, in Jardim Itaguaçu, in the Campo Belo region of Campinas. [deadname] Santos da Silva, known as Neném, was murdered in the garage of her house, next to a bakery on Rua Professor at around 12:35 pm. According to the police, she was alone at home. The killer was reportedly in a vehicle, the characteristics of which were not provided.
Neném lived with a partner, who was not at the property at the time of the crime. At the crime scene, the police found 12 rounds of 380-caliber ammunition and a crack stone, which were seized. The crime will be investigated by the Homicide and Personal Protection Sector (SHPP). The report found that since last week, criminals had threatened the life of the [trans woman].
In the first 11 days of this month alone, four people have already been murdered. February 2019 ended with eight homicides. January this year also registered an increase in the number of crimes of this type. Altogether there were 18, compared to 14 last year.
Neném was born on 14th January 1982 and originally from Jussari, Bahia.
