Rayssa's body was found in a stream on Wednesday 2nd December after a man she had a relationship with revealed its location to police.
She had disappeared after going for a job interview a week earlier on 25th November.
The relatives of Rayssa Eloá Menezes Lema, 22, the young woman who had been missing for a week, confirmed to Correio do Interior that the body found on the banks of a stream on the border between Alumínio and Mairinque is Rayssa's.
The young woman's body was found after a young man who had a relationship with the victim went to the police station and reported where her body was. He initially told the police that there was an accident and that it was not a murder.
The young woman's body was sent to the Instituto Médico Legal - IML in Sorocaba. Family members recognize Rayssa Eloá through tattoos that she had on her body.
Her cousin Guilherme told G1:
"It would have been her first official job, and she was excited, really excited. I remember she went home and I took her to the bus station myself. We are very upset.".
"She always had a very painful life, lost her parents as a child and even lived in shelters. My grandparents ended up welcoming her. She had a lot of courage and love for life. I never saw a person with such a big heart even after suffering so much" , he says.
On 15th December two suspects were arrested.
The Civil Police of Mairinque (SP) temporarily arrested on Tuesday (15) two suspects of killing Rayssa Eloá Menezes, 22. The young transsexual disappeared on November 25 after leaving home to do a job interview and was found dead in a wooded area on December 2.
The young woman's body was buried in the morning of December 4 , in Aluminum. The detainees were taken to the São Roque Public Prison.
In January 2021 The Public Prosecutor's Office asked that the case be closed saying that there was not enough evidence to determine whether she died by homicide, suicide or as a result of instigation to suicide.
The Public Prosecutor's Office asked for the 22-year-old trans [woman] Rayssa Eloá Menezes' death file to be closed. The young woman had disappeared on November 25 after leaving home to do a job interview and was found dead in a wooded area on December 2.
According to the MP's statement, which was based on the police investigation and interrogations of two suspects, friends and a former boyfriend of the victim, there are not enough elements to determine whether there was homicide, suicide or instigation to suicide.
