Karen was killed by a client in a hotel. Reportedly there had been a dispute over payment and he had refused to pay the amount charged.
Karen Cristina, 18, a [trans woman] from Ceará, was beaten and killed last night (9), in a hotel in the city of São Paulo. The young woman's family is campaigning to bring her body from São Paulo to Fortaleza.
Karen recorded a video moments before the crime happened, stating that she was in a hotel and sent it to her family. In another video recorded after the crime, the young woman appears lying on the floor of the establishment, unconscious, while a friend says that she was beaten by a client who refused to pay for a program.
According to Alessandra, Karen's sister, a report from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in São Paulo attested that the cause of the young woman's death was head trauma. Karen Cristina went to São Paulo in August this year to work as a call girl and intended to return to Ceará on the 20th of this month.
Alessandra says that Karen was at the hotel accompanied by a client and friend, when a colleague took the client's cell phone and put it in the young woman's purse without her noticing. When the suspect realised the device was missing, he searched Karen's bag and started the assaults after finding his cell phone. The friend and the attacker were arrested, according to the victim's sister.
