The 16-year-old trans teenager who died from stab wounds at dawn on Monday (5) in Juazeiro do Norte, in the Cariri Region, was accompanied by friends when she was murdered, according to the victim's family. According to family reports, friends tried to prevent the crime, but fled in fear of the suspect.
Young Pietra Valentina was killed on Travessa São Sebastião, in the Pio Xll neighborhood. A police investigation was launched at the Homicide for the Protection of Persons (NHPP) of the Regional Police of Juazeiro do Norte to investigate the facts. Teams of the Civil Police of the State of Ceará (PCCE) and the Military Police continue this Tuesday (6) with the investigations.
The attack came after Pietra and a friend were followed by two people on a motorcycle.
According to a relative of Pietra, she and her friend were walking around the neighborhood when they were insulted by a group who were drinking.
According to the family member, after the episode the young women were followed by two people on a motorcycle. "She (a friend of the victim) said that after going around the block from the place where the people were, two people came on a motorcycle that accompanied them and then he got off the bike and went to [Pietra]. As the people went behind them, and [Pietra] was further behind, her friend managed to run but they had already managed to hold [Pietra] and stab her. Her friend was scared and ran away”
On Wednesday 28th April José Luiz Batista Pereira, 18, was arrested for her murder.
This Thursday morning, the young man accused of killing a 16-year-old [trans woman] in Juazeiro do Norte was taken to the public jail in Juazeiro do Norte, where he is at the disposal of justice. José Luiz Batista Pereira, 18 years old, was arrested this Wednesday afternoon by civil police on charges of the murder by knife blows of the [trans woman] Pietra Valentina, who lived on Rua Ernestina Sobreira (Limoeiro). The crime happened early on April 5th at Rua São Sebastião in the Pio XII neighborhood.
