Mérida's body was found in her home on Tuesday 17th August. She had died - probably from COVID-19 - between two and three days earlier.
La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS ). On the morning of this Tuesday, August 17, the discovery of a lifeless person was reported, which was located inside a house in the Valle del Mezquite neighborhood in the city of La Paz. Unofficial sources pointed out that the victim was a transsexual woman.
Initial reports indicate that the events occurred at around 10:00 am at an address located on Avenida del Mezquite and Viento Primavera in the aforementioned neighborhood.
Personnel from the State Attorney General's Office (PGJE) attended and secured the scene to collect evidence and transfer the body to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) where they will carry out an autopsy.
At the moment, the causes of death of the person are [officially] unknown, since they did not have the support of paramedics; unofficial sources say she could have been in that state for 2 to 3 days.
Unofficially it was reported that she had passed away from Covid-19.
Subsequently it was revealed that on 13th August Mérida had gone to the emergency department but had been refused medical care because they arrived on foot. They went home after visiting a pharmacy where she was prescribed medication to regulate her glucose.
