Lorrane was stabbed in the street. She died in hospital and her killer was arrested at the scene.
Lorrane de Souza, a trans woman and resident of Juazeiro in the North of Bahia was murdered with blows from a machete in the early hours of this Thursday (19th) in the municipality of Petrolina in the hinterland of Pernambuco.
According to the information, the crime took place near Cemitério Campo das Flores in the central area of the city. Lorrane was taken to the University Hospital in Petrolina, but she did not survive her injuries.
The accused of the crime reportedly claimed that he committed the murder after the victim assaulted him. According to Blog Ednevaldo Alves, the perpetrator of the crime said that after the robbery he went after the woman to retrieve her belongings, and that the two had a physical fight. He [claimed he] took the [weapon] from the trunk of the car in an attempt to defend himself. The man was arrested in the act and taken to the police station. The case is being investigated.
In January 2018, Lorrane had been a victim of police violence during the Juazeiro carnival. At the time, the PNB followed the case and the testimony that the victim gave to Captain José de Alencar, during a complaint to the Military Police's internal affairs department.
