Karla's body was found in her home on the morning of Tuesday 4th January. She had been stabbed.
Since the night of Monday, January 3, the relatives of Carla Valentina Espinoza Loor had been unaware of her whereabouts. Concerned about her absence this morning, Tuesday, January 4, one of her sisters came to her home.
After opening the door and climbing the stairs that lead to the second floor of the building in the La Florida sector (north of Guayaquil), the women was horrified to find [Karla] Valentina dead, face up and with several stab wounds to her body.
The woman immediately alerted the police. Criminalistics and La Dinased agents arrived at the property to gather evidence that would lead to finding those responsible for the murder of [deadname], the name under which she was [legally] registered, but which she had changed several years ago.
Colonel Geovanny Arguello, head of the Florida district, reported that during the night neighbors reported that a man arrived on a motorcycle, but they did not realize if he entered Karla Valentina's house.
