Estefanía was shot by unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle.
A transgender person was murdered in Santa Marta this Saturday night.
The woman from the LGBTI community was identified as Estefanía Fernández, known as 'Betty', of Peruvian nationality, based in the District.
The homicide occurred when the woman was in the surroundings of the Cooperative University of Colombia, on the Troncal del Caribe. Witness accounts that the victim was traveling through the area, when suddenly, two antisocials who were traveling on a motorcycle drew a firearm and shot her repeatedly in the head.
The woman was left lying lifeless on the side of the road. After the attack, the criminals fled in an unknown direction and are being sought by the authorities.
So far the motives for this attack are unknown. For their part, officials from the Sijín of the Metropolitan Police carried out the removal of the body and transferred it to the Legal Medicine Morgue.
