Camila died in hospital after being stabbed and burned alive.

Santiago de Chile, Aug 3 (EFE) - This Wednesday Movimiento de Integración y Liberación Homosexual (Movilh), the main LGBTI community organisation in Chile, denounced the murder of Nacha Palma, a young transgender woman who was allegedly stabbed and burned alive in Valparaiso.

According to Movilh, the 26-year-old woman was attacked in the streets of this coastal city, 100 kilometers from Santiago. She was found alive by firefighters who took her to a hospital where she died minutes later due to burns that covered her entire body.

“Together with her family, we are collecting all the information necessary to deal with this brutal attack that shakes us as people and as activists. So far the information is preliminary, but the truth is that third parties intervened in the death," said Ramón Gómez, the person in charge of human rights at Movilh.

Palma was stabbed and burned by a group of subjects, detailed the organization, which is defining what legal actions to file for this hate crime.

María López, the president of the Corporación Corporación Trans Féminas Diversas en Acción, also condemned the death of the young woman: "We demand preventive measures from the Valparaíso authorities against abuse and attacks. For now, we will concentrate on guiding the family".

In September 2023 José Fereira Iguarán was sentended to 20 years in prison for Camila's murder.
