With deep regret, we at Asociación Silueta X regret to report the discovery of the lifeless body of Leticia* (Runa Sipiy Coding SX-COCA-1624721), a trans woman of Colombian nationality, in the Abdón Calderón neighborhood of the city of El Coca.
On July 21, 2024, in the morning, DINASED and Criminalistics personnel were present in the Perla Amazónica sector to carry out the respective procedures and remove the body. The body was transferred to the Forensic Center of the city of Lago Agrio for the respective investigations.
According to an official report, upon arriving at the scene, they found Leticia's body without vital signs, lying on her stomach, and with signs of violence on her head. She was half naked from the waist down, with her underwear at knee level.
From the Silhouette X Association, we strongly condemn this act of violence and demand a thorough investigation to clarify the circumstances of this tragic death. It is imperative that justice be done and that measures be taken to guarantee the safety and respect for the lives of all trans people in our country.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends at this difficult time.
For all of the above, we call upon the Attorney General of the State, Diana Salazar, the Police Commander, Carlos Cabrera, the Minister of Women and Human Rights, Arianna Tanca, and the Ombudsman of Ecuador, Cesar Córdoba Valverde, to carry out an exhaustive investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this act. *Name Identity Protected
