On Oct. 24, Jay Floris, who used they/them pronouns, was walking their service dog near San Joaquin Delta College near Pacific Avenue when they were struck by a car.
Floris was 23 years old and worked with people leaving domestic violence situations. ABC10 spoke with their sister Lillianna Herring at Floris' vigil.
"It is truly a tragedy. They were young and 23, still had a full life ahead of them.” Herring said. "They did not deserve to be killed because someone wanted to be reckless. This not only impacts our life, this guy's whole family is going to be impacted because of his stupid decision."
