A trans woman who had been set on fire by her partner in the town of Colón, Entre Ríos province, died yesterday Thursday after suffering burns on 90% of her body. The attacker, who hugged her while she was engulfed in flames and was also hospitalized, died a day after the attack.
The victim, identified as Rita Pilar, 32, was in critical condition at the Colón hospital and died of multiple organ failure as a result of burns on 90 percent of her body, according to the police report. The attacker, identified as Carlos Romero, who was also hospitalized with serious injuries, died on Wednesday.
The transfemicide occurred on Tuesday night, around 8:30 p.m., in the house that the couple shared on calle Remedios de Escalada 1200. There, the aggressor doused his partner's body with a can of gasoline, set her on fire with a lighter and hugged her while she was burning in flames.
