Cha Cha was found beaten to death in a hotel room. She had extensive injuries to the back of the head.
Bludgeon Slaying (Fresno Bee, Fresno, CA, USA, 1973-03-19)
Police are also investigating the apparent bludgeon slaying of a 29-year-old whose body was found yesterday morning in a room in the Hotel Walters at 564 F St.
Police said [Cha Cha] Casares was apparently killed some time between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. yesterday. Jennie Hernandez, 47, who lives at the hotel told police she discovered the victim lying on the foot of the bed of her hotel room.
She said Casares had been staying in her room off and on in recent weeks. Police said the victim was struck in the head, possibly with a metal chair which was in the room.
Garfield Morgan Jr, 22, the night manager of the hotel told police he saw the victim at about 3 am with three men in the hotel hallway. He did not detect anything unusual at the time police said. When the [person] was found he was wearing women's clothing including a long-sleeved blouse, panty hose and a yellow mini skirt, police reported.
Two Murderers Sought in Fresno (Californian, Salinias, CA, USA, 1973-03-19)
Sunday morning, the body of [Cha Cha] Casares, 29, was found in a room at a west Fresno hotel.
Police said Casares had suffered extensive injuries to the back of [their] head apparently incurred in a beating.
Officers said Casares was believed to be a transvestite and when found was wearing womens undergarments.
