Clyde was shot by Stephen Orosz Jr. after he found out that she was trans.

Orosz tried to claim self-defense in this case, but the judge rejected his claim. Orosz was convicted of first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence.

PITTSBURGH - An Allegheny County man accused of killing a [trans woman] told police he be lieved that he was picking up a female [sex worker], according to testimony at a coroner's hearing.

Allegheny County Detective Robert Payne said Thursday that Stephen Orosz, 26, of Chalfant, confessed to killing the [woman] but did not give a reason.

"He indicated he really didn't know" why he allegedly shot Clyde Massie, 34, of Pittsburgh, Payne said. Massie's body was found with one gunshot wound in the eye on the Churchill entrance of the Penn-Lincoln Parkway early on Aug. 15. Allegheny County Deputy Coroner Judith Friedman ordered Orosz held for trial on a murder charge.
