Patrick Calvert

Patrick's body was found with a stab wound to the chest on the ramp of Interstate 55-70. A witness reported seeing their body being thrown from a vehicle.

An East St. Louis [person] in women's clothing was found fatally stabbed after apparently being dumped on the ramp from St. Clair Avenue to the westbound lanes of Interstate 55-70, authorities report.

St. Clair Coroner Rick Stone identi- fied the victim as Patrick Calvert, 30, of the 500 block of Washington Place.

Stone said Calvert was pronounced dead shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday in the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis. [They] had been stabbed once in the chest.

Illinois State Police said they were called at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday by National City police, who reported finding Calvert lying on the ramp, critically injured and dressed in women's clothing.

Police said an investigation had found Calvert had been walking along Illinois Route 3 in National City in an area frequented by [sex workers].

They said [Patrick] was last seen getting into a gray or blue car with a dark colored stripe along the sides. A motorist later told National City police he saw a body pushed from a car on the St. Clair Avenue ramp.
