Linda was found dead on the street in front of the civic center by the police after being stabbed several times in the chest by David Farias.

A 32-year-old man arrested Saturday faces murder charges in connection with the Downtown slaying of a suspected [trans sex worker] July 22. David Farias, of 10393 Blythe, was picked up while house-sitting at an undisclosed location. He is accused of fatally stabbing [deadname] "Linda" Giron on the 200 block of West Franklin.

Farias was picked up after police received a tip that he was involved in the crime. Farias was an acquaintance of Giron and was "the transient type," police spokesman Sgt. Bill Pfeil said. He was taken to the El Paso County Jail Saturday, where his bail was set at $75,000. Farias is charged with murdering 34-year-old Giron, of the 1500 block of East Missouri, who police say was a [sex worker] frequenting the Downtown area.

Witnesses said Giron ran screaming from an alley at about 2:30 a.m. July 22 and collapsed, dying in front of the El Paso civic center. [She] was found by police with several knife wounds to his chest. [She] died of multiple wounds to the chest and abdomen, police said.

Linda's murder was not recorded on the official TDoR memorial list.
