Gabriela was shot dead in a park. Nothing was taken from her.
A few days later, another trans woman was shot to death in the same park. On March 10, Gabriela was found by a dog walker, north of Avenida Giannatassio. She was 37 years old. They killed her with two shots to the back of the neck and nothing was stolen from her.
In September 2021 Gabriela's case was one of six reopened following the arrest of Nicolás Gonella, ringleader of the Comando Barneix group, on child pornography charges:
Justice is now investigating as a possible perpetrator the defendant in the Barneix case, who in a conversation claimed the homicides.
Justice is investigating the man who was sentenced to prison for the threats in the Barneix case, for the murder of [six] trans women. These killings, which occurred between 2011 and 2012, have yet to be clarified. In the seizure of documents from the defendant's house, Nicolás Gonella mentions in a conversation with an individual from a foreign organization that he was responsible for these murders.
On November 23, 2011, the body of Ángela, 49, was found in a dilapidated house at the entrance to the Cerro, on calle Haití near the Pantanoso stream. She had been shot three times.
On February 17, 2012, "La Brasilera" was shot in Roosevelt Park. With several shots she was taken in serious condition to the Clínicas hospital, where she died fifteen days later.
A few days later, another trans woman was shot to death in the same park. On March 10, Gabriela was found by a dog walker, north of Avenida Giannatassio. She was 37 years old. They killed her with two shots to the back of the neck but nothing was stolen from her.
On April 12, 2012, the only crime of that period that is clarified occurred. Pamela, 26, was murdered in the city of Melo. His body appeared in a hookah in the Feder neighborhood. She died as a result of the beatings. Two adults and a teenager were prosecuted.
Just ten days later, in Montevideo they assassinated Cassandra, 39 years old. She was found dead with a shot in the neck in Lima and Paraguay, in Aguada. It was ruled out that it had occurred in the course of a robbery.
On September 23, 2012, ten months after the first murder, the sixth occurred: Kiara, 25, was killed by a bullet in the neck from a 22-caliber weapon in a Prado park, on Castro and Carlos Brussa. Her body was mutilated and she was also doused with fuel and set on fire.
