Savana was shot in the face while working in the Bela Vista neighborhood on Saturday 27th July and died in hospital the following day.
Reportedly she was shot in error and the intended target was another trans sex worker working at the same location.
In an interview with the G1, the president of the Piauiense Group of Transsexuals and Transvestites (GPTrans), Maria Laura dos Reis, described how the crime happened. According to her, the shot that Savana took was not aimed at her, but at a colleague called India working at the same point.
"Savana was on the point with other girls when the suspect known as Tiny arrived. As soon as the car stopped, Savannah approached thinking her was a customer, but he did not say anything and fired. One shot hit her face and the other hit the arm of India, who was behind her," said Maria Laura.
The other [trans woman] working on the spot called the police and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). According to the president, the motivation for the crime was a debt that the suspect had with India.
