Michelle was strangled by two brothers-in-law. Both were subsequently jailed.

Michelle Koek, the transgender woman murdered in Andijk in April 2014, died by strangulation. This is according to the autopsy report that is part of the murder case. The case was brought before the court on Monday.

The two brothers-in-law, Jawed H. and Michel S., are suspected in the case. It allegedly involved a business dispute: H. had sold the contents of his thrift store to Koek.

The two later clashed over this. H. and his brother-in-law S. reportedly went to Koek's front door on April 28, 2014, to settle the dispute.

The wife of suspect Jawed H., and sister of Michel S., stated: "My brother was going to make sure Koek didn't wake up; he put the cord on her." H. allegedly kicked Koek in the head with his foot.

Koek, a [trans woman] who lived as a woman, was found dead in her home in Andijk on April 29, 2014.
