Marcela was killed when two people attacked a group of friends walking past.
Medellín is a city in which, in recent times, homophobic violence has been demonstrated incessantly and today is no exception; in the early hours of last Sunday and two young people attacked a couple of friends who were passing by the place. [deadname] Duque López, a member of the LGBT Community, was smoking a cigarette, dressed as a woman and accompanied by a 19-year-old boy. That moment was when his attackers attacked her.
The attackers knocked [deadname] down but the 19-year-old managed to escape and notify the police of what happened, but when they returned to the scene of what happened, they found the body of the 46-year-old [woman] who had received a brutal beating.
According to the authorities, "The victim was nicknamed "Marcela". We cannot say that it is a situation of homophobia, in part because it is not possible to determine who caused it. The investigation is progressing and we know that the culprit is black. The victim, who was one of the leaders of the LGTB Community, had not received threats" assured the Secretary of Security of Medellín.
