Érika was shot dead early on Thursday 25th August at a residence on 28th Street of the Pedra 90 neighborhood in Cuiabá.

She was found lying dead on the sofa in the living room. The police believe that the motivation for her murder was a debt of $20 to a trafficker in the region.

A [trans woman] was killed late this Thursday afternoon (25) in the Pedra 90 neighborhood, in Cuiabá. The victim, identified as Erika, was shot in the neck and neck inside the home while he slept. Information comes from the Military Police.

The police are investigating the motive for the murder and are considering the possibility of settling accounts. According to the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP), Érika was involved with drug dealers in the neighborhood for at least three years, when she started using drugs. Her body was taken for examination at the Legal Medical Institute (IML).

Érika was known in Pedra 90 for participating in beauty contests in the region. The police did not report that there were signs of a break-in in the house where the transvestite was found nor whether she was accompanied by anyone at the time.
