Kashmire was stabbed by his partner. She has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.
A Gates woman has been accused of fatally stabbing her partner during a domestic dispute in the couple's apartment early Monday.
Doris E. Carrasquillo, 40, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Kashmire Nazier Redd, 28, said Gates Police Chief Jim VanBrederode.
The couple lived together in a new apartment at 510 Coccia Crescent in Crerand Commons off Lyell Avenue in Gates, he said. The pair argued early Monday inside their shared apartment, he said. It's alleged that during the argument, Carrasquillo stabbed Redd several times in the upper body.
Redd left the apartment and collapsed on the front lawn.
Gates police were called to the scene shortly after 4:30 a.m., VanBrederode said Redd was still alive when officers arrived but died from injuries after being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police did not say why the pair was arguing.
