Karla's body was found in the street on the afternoon of Sunday 23rd March. She had been shot.
SAN FELIPE, Gto. (OEM-Informex).- A transsexual woman from Salamanca was killed, apparently from a gunshot wound, last Sunday in the municipality of San Felipe.
The lifeless body was found this Sunday afternoon on Avenida Diligencias, at the height of “Las Cabañas”.
Associations in favor of human rights confirmed that the victim is Karla Valentina Camarena del Castillo, better known for her performance in trans activism as Valentina Ferrety.
They ask that one of the lines of investigation of the event be investigated for possible transfeminicide.
Karla was an activist, a coordinator of the first Pride March in the city of Salamanca and also led a campaign in CDMX for the correction of the birth certificates of a group of about 40 Guanajuato trans people. She was also named Coordinator of the Mexican Network of Trans Women of the State of Guanajuato.
In recent years, Ferrety collaborated with the municipal PRI of León as coordinator of Attention to Trans People within the Secretariat for Equality and Non-Discrimination of the tricolor party for legal recognition in reference to the gender identity of people in this sector of the population.
On the official Facebook page of Círculo Diverso de México AC It was mentioned that she was also coordinator of the first Gay March in the city of Salamanca, Guanajuato and led the correction of data on the birth certificate for gender identity of a group of about 40 Guanajuato people in CDMX.
She was named Coordinator of the Mexican Network of Trans Women of the State of Guanajuato.
"Valentina has always been recognized for her seasoned character and her multifaceted personality. We call on the Attorney General of the State of Guanajuato to carry out the necessary steps to investigate her murder," they cited.
