Luz was killed by unidentified assailants who threw cement blocks at her head.
Tegucigalpa.- While the Labor Day was commemorated behind closed doors during the curfew in the national territory, the lifeless body of a trans woman was found [on Avenida San Isidro] in La Ceiba, Atlántida.
The victim is Luz Clarita, who was originally from La Ceiba. Luz was 23 years old and part of a trans organization.
For Luz, discrimination, lack of employment and the lack of guarantees of equal rights led her to exercise the sex trade in one of the most dangerous countries in Latin America.
According to the statement issued by the ProEunion Ceibeña Organization (OPROUCE) the murder of Luz Clarita is a hate crime against the diverse populations in the country.
"Once our transgender community dresses in mourning at another act of escalating violence against our vulnerable population. A crime based on gender and hate. Luz Clarita thus joins an endless list of transfemicides in our country" details the statement
