Cristhal and her partner Erlin were shot dead in her home by a group of people dressed in military uniforms.
On the night of July 28, the transsexual woman Cristhal López (30) and her partner Erlin Alexi Rivera (30) were shot to death in her home in the Las Delicias neighborhood of La Ceiba. She was a volunteer for the OPROUCE organization. In addition her sister Isis Dalep López (25) was kidnapped by six people dressed in military costumes. Authorities are investigating what could be the motive for the crime and kidnapping.
OPROUCE condemned "energetically" in a statement the "brutal murder" of its partner Cristhal López. "We have witnessed how in three days three transsexual comrades in our country have been murdered," the organization added, which also calls for the "prompt release" of López's sister.
“Many are losing their lives for not having access to physical security. There is much fear. In this confinement, the source of income has been lost, and many have not been allowed to work, "says OPROUCE leader Sasha Rodríguez, who asked the authorities to investigate the crimes.
