Valery's body was found outside a health centre in the centre of La Lima on the morning of Friday 14th May 2021.
La Lima, Honduras. They found 23-year-old Valery Pereira murdered on the morning of Friday the 14th in Lima, in northern Honduras. The body was discovered by neighbors on a sidewalk near the health center located in the Cerrato neighborhood. Her death was apparently caused by bullets and stones.
Patients at the health center discovered the body of Pereira, a native of Mapulaca, in the western department of Lempira, and called the police to report the discovery. At the time of her death, the young woman was dressed in dark pants and a light shirt and was lying on her back on the sidewalk.
The establishment next to which the trans woman died is about a hundred meters from the center of La Lima, one of the cities most affected by the floods caused by hurricanes Eta and Iota in November 2020.
Valery worked as a stylist and participated in beauty pageants.
Valery Pereira was a trans woman known in La Lima for her work as a beauty stylist, for her cheerful and fun character and her gift for making friends with people. Until the time of her death, Pereira worked at the Cristina's Nail Center Salon & Spa beauty center.
“Unfortunately we have lost a loved one, loved by many friends and clients, a friend, our co-worker and for me as my daughter!”, The owner of Cristina's, a beauty salon in La Lima, wrote on Facebook. “It hurts my soul to know that we will no longer have that joy that characterized her in our living room. Rest in peace, Vielka! All your coworkers will take you deep into our hearts. We love you! See you soon".
