Nety was a public servant. She was stabbed to death while attempting to defend a woman from her abusive ex-husband.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested.
A 41-year-old trans woman, identified as Nety Cosme, was stabbed to death on Friday (3), in the district of Lajinha, in Pancas. According to the Military Police, the victim went to defend a woman who in a fight with her husband, when she got into a body fight with the man who struck her with a knife. The 33-year-old suspect was arrested red handed.
The PM detailed that it proceeded to the Hospital de Pancas, where a 41-year-old trans woman had been admitted with a stab wound. At the scene, a man who accompanied the victim reported that the incident took place in Lajinha de Pancas during an argument between two other people.
Police officers proceeded to the address, where they located the 33-year-old suspect inside the former companion's residence. The man showed visible signs of drunkenness and did not resist arrest. The woman reported to the military that she was in an argument with her ex-husband, when the victim intervened in order to defend her from the aggressions. The man and the trans woman got into a physical fight, at which point he took a knife from his waist and struck the victim's chest.
Sought by Rede Notícia, the Civil Police reported that the suspect was taken to the Colatina Regional Police Station and booked in flagrante delicto for the crime of homicide, being sent to the prison system. The victim's body was sent to the Legal Medical Service (DML) of Colatina, to be necropsied and later released to the family members.
Nety Cosme was a public servant. She served as head of the Public Cleaning sector in the district of Lajinha. In a note, the City Hall of Pancas said that "in this moment of deep pain and regret, it expresses its most sincere condolences to family and friends". And he concluded: “Nety will be missed by everyone”.
