Tegucigalpa, Honduras. By pure chance, the alleged murderer of Soraya Álvarez was captured.
The agents were lifting the body of a person killed by asphyxiation that was floating in the Choluteca River, in Tegucigalpa, on Friday around 9:00 pm, when they saw a man carrying a body on his back under the shadows of the night.
When the police ordered him to stop, the subject threw the body to the ground and fled at full speed. The agents chased him and managed to capture him.
The body that had been thrown to the ground was that of the trans activist Soraya Álvarez, a member of the Muñecas de Arcoíris collective.
In the police action that took place next to the Choluteca River, near the first avenue of Comayagüela, the National Police captured the 53-year-old man, a merchant by trade, for assuming him responsible for the murder of Soraya Álvarez.
In the confrontation with police officers, the alleged murderer received several blows, for which he had to bandage his nose. As for Soraya, her body had wounds on the back of her ear, according to investigations by the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI).
Likewise, Soraya had several bruises on the back of her head, probably caused by a blunt force that could have caused her death. Justice operators are waiting for the Forensic Medicine opinion to know the official causes of the murder.
