Giovana was stabbed in the street by her boyfriend. He fled but was arrested shortly after.
A 28-year-old transgender woman, identified as Giovana Souza, was stabbed to death last Wednesday (10), in the Eldorado neighborhood, in the northern region of São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to information in the police report, Giovana was found lying on the street, with intense bleeding in the chest area. She was conscious when she was approached by people passing through the neighborhood and told that she had been attacked by her boyfriend. An ambulance from the Mobile Assistance Service (SAMU) was called and rescued the victim, but she did not survive. The death was confirmed by the doctor on duty at the scene.
The Military Police carried out a patrol in search of the suspect, also 28 years old, who had fled and was found in a prostitution area. See below, security circuit images that show the suspect fleeing shortly after stabbing the victim. He appears running, wearing a purple t-shirt and white shorts:
When approached, the man refused to obey the police and got into a physical fight with a police officer until he was restrained.
Enquiries revealed that the attacker was a fugitive from justice, wanted for the crime of homicide. According to the Civil Police, in May last year, he was involved in a fight in Santos (SP), and stabbed the victim to death. He had been on the run since October.
He was arrested in the act for feminicide and had his prison sentence converted into preventive custody; Now he is in the prison of the Specialized Division in Criminal Investigations (DEIC) at the disposal of the Justice.
Giovana's body will be laid to rest and buried this Thursday (11), at the São João Batista cemetery, starting at 10 am, in Rio Preto.
