Corina's body was found buried under cement and rubble at the home of her attacker. She had been missing for just under a week.
The pathologist at the Moreno-General Rodríguez Morgue saw it immediately on the table: a skull fracture caused the death of [deadname] Devesa, the 72-year-old retiree from the Villa Sarmiento area who had been missing since Friday, found dead yesterday, Thursday, in a house in José C. Paz, within the jurisdiction of Moreno.
Her body, sources in the case confirmed, was buried under a slab.
The study of the body, on the other hand, revealed that Devesa did not die immediately. The autopsy proved that Devesa suffered marked agony before passing away. How long that period lasted, for now, is unknown. The exact date of death, when the retiree was murdered, is also unknown: the earth and cement that covered the body, experts explained, affected the decomposition process. What the prosecutor investigating the case, Adriana Suárez Corripio, knows for certain is that Devesa arrived at the house where she was murdered on the same Friday she disappeared, around 9 p.m
José Luis Goyechea, a 52-year-old bricklayer who lived at the location, was arrested by the Morón DDI of the Buenos Aires Provincial Police. He refused to testify yesterday, assisted by a public defender.
Detectives on the case initially believed that Goyechea had some kind of relationship with Devesa, who was a cancer patient receiving medication. Suárez Corripio determined through witness testimony that Goyechea had done work at his alleged victim's house. What happened, why she went to her assailant's house on a Friday night, remains to be seen.
