Possible suicide
Finnela died in her room. Although she had been exploring her gender since 2019, her unaccepting family led her to detransition for 4-5 years before retransitioning in 2024-2025.
Finnela was a multifaceted person with many passions and interests. She loved nature and graduated with a degree in marine biology. She also had a passion for technology; she used to volunteer teaching children coding and worked as a programmer after graduating. In her free time she enjoyed board games, nature conservation volunteering, birdwatching, art and photography. Her favourite band was Los Campesinos!
Finnela first started exploring her gender in 2018-2019. Unfortunately her family was not supportive of this, causing her to socially detransition/go back to the closet for years before deciding to try coming out to friends again in the last year. But her life was tragically cut short soon after.
Finnela struggled with bipolar disorder and epilepsy. The cause of death is not definitively known but is a possible suicide.
She is dearly missed by her friends.
Finnela's family held her funeral and wrote her obituary under her deadname.
