Marion was shot dead by a man who approached her on a volleyball court. Her assailant and his accomplice escaped on a motorcycle.
On the afternoon of Friday, June 27, at approximately 5:40 p.m., a violent crime shook the Buenavista parish in the Pasaje canton. Marion Lapo Morocho, a well-known local trans woman, was shot and killed while on an volleyball court.
According to preliminary reports, a man approached the scene and shot her several times, hitting her in the head and killing her instantly. After the attack the assailant escaped on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice.
This incident has caused profound shock in the LGBTI community of El Oro province, whose representatives announced they will issue an official statement in the coming hours.
Staff from Dirección Nacional de Del!tos contra la Vida, Mu€rtes V!olentas, Desapariciones, Extors!ón y Secu€stros (Dinased) are investigating the case and it is hoped that the authorities will provide official information that will help clarify this unfortunate incident and find those responsible.
