Samylla was shot by a client. A suspect was subsequently arrested.
The Military Police through the 4th BPM – Sant'Ana Battalion, with the support of the Intelligence Agencies of the 3rd CRPM, 4th BPM, 28th BPM and CPE/Anápolis, managed to locate and arrest this Saturday (19), a suspect in the murder of Samylla Morais, a [trans woman] who worked as a [sex worker].
During the operation, police found .32-caliber ammunition, a bloodstained blouse, and other people's documents in the suspect's home. Security camera footage showed that the suspect had arranged to meet the victim shortly before the crime. The car used in the crime was also located and taken for forensic analysis.
The suspect was taken to the Central Police Station and charged with aggravated homicide, pursuant to Article 121 of the Brazilian Penal Code. In addition to the man arrested, police seized a vehicle for forensic examination, ammunition, and other items recovered during the operation.
The homicide occurred on Friday night (18), when a [trans woman] known on social media as Samylla Morais was found dead on a country road near the State University of Goiás (UEG), on the banks of BR-060, in Anápolis. She worked as a [sex worker] in the Calixtolândia region.
According to witnesses interviewed by police, they heard gunshots during the early morning hours, followed by the sound of a car speeding away. Hours later, Samylla's body was found lying in the vegetation, bearing gunshot wounds, according to forensic evidence.
