Eli was killed by her boyfriend in her home salon. He has been charged with aggravated femicide.

On Tuesday afternoon, a new case of violence shook the LGBT community in Ciudad Juárez with the discovery of the lifeless body of a trans woman, known as "Eli," inside her beauty salon located at the intersection of Cobre and Miguel Hidalgo streets in the Gregorio M. Solís neighborhood.

Eli, originally from Veracruz, was a well-known figure in the industry for her work as a stylist at her business, a pink beauty salon that also served as her home. According to neighbors, she lived with more than five dogs and often shared time with her partner, with whom she frequently drank alcohol.

The body was found lying on a bed, covered with a blanket. The presence of the animals hampered emergency responders' initial access, so personnel from the Animal Care and Welfare Department (DABA) intervened to secure the dogs and allow authorities to enter.

Unofficially, neighbors recalled a disturbing incident: approximately eight years ago, Eli's then-boss was murdered in the same room as the beauty salon, sparking consternation and speculation about the coincidence of circumstances in this location.

Members of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, the State Attorney General's Office, forensic experts, and personnel from the Forensic Medical Service responded to the scene to conduct the necessary investigations. The official cause of death has not yet been confirmed by authorities.

The discovery of Eli's body has sparked outrage in Ciudad Juárez's LGBT community, which is demanding justice and greater protection for transgender people in a city marked by gender-based violence.
