Mónica was killed inside a home. After her murder the authorities refused to release her body because she did not have any documents.
León, Gto . Early Friday morning, a trans woman was shot and killed inside a home in the Vista Esmeralda II neighborhood.
The incident was reported at 1:27 a.m. on the corner of callesVista Grulla and Vista Alta. Police and paramedics confirmed the death upon arrival.
The victim was wearing blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes.
The name of the deceased is yet to be confirmed following investigations conducted by the Deceased Persons Identification Unit .
Inside the home, several packages containing substances such as crystal meth, cocaine, and psychotropic pills were found, which were seized by authorities.
So far there are no arrests.
León, Guanajuato .- Last Friday (August 15), Monica, a trans woman was murdered in the Vista Esmeralda neighborhood, to this day her body is still in the Guanajuato Prosecutor's Office because she was never registered as a civil partner.
Acquaintances of Mónica Hernández, 31 years old, have claimed her body, but it has not been able to be delivered because they do not have a legal personality that identifies her as a person, since it seems she was never registered as a civil servant, explained Ricardo Gallardo, representative of the Ofarrel Family AC.
“Mónica was originally from Mexico City. The people who approached us are friends from here in León who told us that when she was a child in Mexico City, she was abandoned by her biological family and adopted by another family, but voluntarily, not legally, so she never had a registration, birth certificate, or document that gave her legal personality,” he explained.
Mónica was finally buried on Thursday 11th September, and because of the efforts of her community and chosen family her tombstone has her chosen name on it.
